Stauffie here
I live in the hills of southern Ohio...not terrible far from KY...an hour and some drive...I have 2 ponies and a horse, one pony is in MI right now with a good friend of mine and her mother. We are starting up a sport pony/gaited mule farm sometime in the future...and my haflinger, Sadie, is up there with them to be bred for the first sport pony this spring! She is being bred to *Ortel, a polish arabian stallion. Sadie is an 11 y/o red sorrel with flaxen mane/tail
The other pony, Gypsy, is a 5y/o black tovero Spotted Saddle Horse in a pony sized package. She is my go anywhere, do anything trail pony. I plan on breeding her (hopefully) next spring to a gaited jack that is about 45 minutes away.
The horse is my 4 y/o gold champagne TWH gelding, Patriot...aka Riot. Hopeing to get some miles on him in a few weeks....been ground driving the snot out of him and I have sat on him a few times...he's very lazy
I went to college for Equine Science degrees...Backcountry Horsemanship/Wilderness Survival and Equine Healthcare/Complementary Therapies. My "weekend" jobs(ie: not regular jobs...but I do them for extra cash and/or fun) are working as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist and Equine Acupressurist....as well as I am a Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America in Horsemanship. I am also qualified to teach the Horsemanship for the BSA's Venturing program(high adventure, co-ed, older age limits--14 through 21 y/o). I worked 4 summers at a BSA camp here in Ohio teaching Horsemanship and it was a blast...even if I did have to wear the uniform(green shorts and kneesocks are SO SEXY! haha). I also teach a few other BSA merit badges--Nature, Forestry, Mammal Study, Art, Pets, Animal Science, Vet Medicine, Environmental Science, Reptile/Amphibian study, Bird Study, Fishing, Music, and I hope to be able to add Fly Fishing to my list this summer. I now only do these on the weekends and in the summer camp off season....as my current "real" job won't let me take off 8-9 weeks to work at a summer camp...lol
My real job? I'm a Habilitation Specialist for MR/DD clients(mentally retarded/developmentally disabled). That is a fancy title for saying I hang out with them at their house, fix their meals, help clean the house, get their medicines ready for them to take, and take care of their dog(the guys I work with got her the same time I started working there...lol). It's a fun job, but sometimes can be a bit boring as I do the overnight shift and they tend to fall asleep way before I clock out for the night.
I also like to draw and paint...fweeee! much fun!
and on ER I raise Appaloosas
on SHG I raise...Appaloosas, Tiger Horses, SSHs, TWHs, Spanish Mustangs, QHs, Appendix QHs, TBs, Paints and Welsh Mountain Ponies....whew!
