Welcome to Belle Mire Stables’ Ranch Board!
We're Still Under Constrution, More to Come!
~[/center]
Nestled in southern Alberta, Canada, and surrounded by fields of rolling hills that are embraced by deciduous forests, we at Belle Mire proudly aim our focus on the Oldenburg breed and their progress in training, showing and lastly, breeding stunning foals with an overall concentration on dressage. Complete with a main barn, three smaller barns and ample acres of grazing pastures, our horses always feel at home. Additionally, with twin outdoor arenas and one indoor, plenty of different trails winding through our land and experienced staff to tend to everyday chores, we make sure they live their lives to the fullest and get the TLC they deserve. By having many different goals, our horses will vary from brilliant and flashy show horses of all colors to our behind the scenes broodmares who are all unique and continue to enrich our herds.
With every foal crop we are blessed with outstanding selections of offspring by top Thoroughbred, Arabian and Oldenburg stallions and out of our lovely mares. We would be more than happy to pair you up with showhorse of your own, so don’t hesitate to visit or message us with any questions. We hope you enjoy your stay!
The horses either imported to us, bought unnamed, or born into our stables, will all sport a similar brand that you’ll be sure to come across during your visit. This identifying mark is вмѕ.~
Our Goals
The Oldenburg is Germany’s heaviest type of warmblood, standing at least a good 16 – 17hh. Originally developed as a coach horse, the Oldenburg has modernized into a fine sports breed, athletic with an elegant outline, excelling in most events. He has a rather plain head, with the occasional Roman nose, and a long strong neck. His shoulders are muscular and he has a powerfully built body with a deep chest and strong hindquarters.
In our Oldenburgs, our goals are as follows:
- focus primarily on catering to the dressage world
- produce high stats horses, concentrating on intelligence and movement
- colors of solid chestnut, bay and black
- see that presence runs consistently in our horses
- clear horses with no conformation faults
As a side project, we have decided to take up Paints, with no particular interest in profiting from the breed (we just needed a way to spend all our earnings from our Oldies, hehe). The goals we have come up with are very strict, which should provide a very dedicated and long lasting challenge. They are as follows:
- lots and lots of color, focusing on lighter mane variations, flaxen, silver, and everything in between
- lots of patterns, splashed whites and toveros
- purebred Paints, with no exception to Local Stock
- cow sense, cow sense, cow sense
- clear horses with no conformation faults
Stats for our Paints aren't so much of a priority right now, as we've clearly got our hands full.~
Our Ranch Policies
General -
- all horses will be kept up to date with coggins testing
- all horses will be trained up to excellent in foal training, and will not advance unless for showing purposes.
Sales -
- foals will be placed for sale upon weaning, and remain for sale until sold or the age of two (2) *
* Fillies that do not sell will be rehomed unless they have potential as a broodmare, where they may be offered for brood; colts will be rehomed.
- mares/geldings with show potential will be continuously trained and shown until they are sold
Studs -
- all semen is by message request only, to accommodate our limited storage *
* However, we will place a set amount of straws up during winter and spring, mostly for publicity purposes.
- semen prices start out at introductory discounts, and will rise after the first successful foal crop
- there will be a cap on the number of outside breedings, which will be addressed in advance
- all semen is sold as four (4) straws *
* The extra pair of straws is our only form of LFG.
Broods -
- all mares for brood will be advertised through winter and spring for booking
- all mares will have one spot open only for each season as it comes, we will not hold places for future seasons *
* We may however find those in need of future broods, to ensure business continues.
- if a broodmare is not booked by the end of spring, we will breed her ourselves for our own purposes
- all broodmares will remain on our ranch for the duration of the brood *
* Since all our mares are recurring broodmares, when they are bred they still have a foal by their side. This prevents us from leasing out our broodmares.
- foals receive free foal training and nominations upon request as a thank you to our customers
- for the most part, all our mares are for brood, just ask for availability
